Volunteers with Needle Dogs Moncton, a group that picks up and collects used syringes and other materials from schools; parks, and public spaces in Moncton; say that there is a need for a better disposal program.
At the moment, the group can’t find anywhere to get rid of the dirty needles.
The group was told by city hall to take them to a pharmacy or a hospital, but that didn’t pan out.
Pharmacies won’t take the containers holding the dirty needles because they also contain drug paraphernalia that volunteers have collected.
