Damaged, derelict houses in the flood zone of Sydney should start coming down next month.
Municipal Affairs Minister Derek Mombourquette confirmed yesterday 18 buildings that were damaged beyond repair in the Thanksgiving flood will be demolished starting next month and the work should be done early in the fall.
The announcement came one day after yet another fire in one of the abandoned buildings on St. peter’s Road which is considered suspicious. The damaged houses have been the target of vandals for months and neighbours are concerned fires could spread to their homes.
