Moncton City Council has been warned…it’s facing hard times if it doesn’t curb its spending, according to CBC. That warning comes from the city’s chief financial officer.
John Martin says the long-term financial plan has been very difficult to balance and he foresees a $103 million deficit over the next decade. He says the city is committed to $200 million in capital spending from now till 2020, which is quite a bit more than the city can afford. He cited the downtown events centre, new headquarters for the RCMP, east end pool and downtown development as major expenditures.
