Port Hawkesbury Paper has won a victory at NAFTA.
A panel has ruled in its favour and against the U-S Department of Commerce which imposed hefty border duties on its paper products. The NAFTA panel told the Commerce Department it must reconsider different issues when it comes to the duties, including power rates. The five-person panel was comprised of three officials from the U.S. and two from Canada.
The department could appeal the panel’s decision or take the information from the panel and adjust the tariff.
