Residents of Bras D’Or are up in arms over an announcement this week by the government that it’ll provide funding to build an overpass on the 105 at Baddeck for ATVs.
They’re upset because they say there are roads in the area that need a lot of work which should be a priority not ATVs.
They cite West Side Middle River Road, saying it’s a school bus route and is in very bad shape. One of the residents, Patrick Langtot, told the Cape Breton Post MLA Pam Eyking drove the road with transportation officials a few weeks ago but said there was no money to the fix the roads. He says every year the transportation sends out surveyors to make it look as if something will be done, but it never is.
