Albert County residents are still upset after that public meeting with Transportation Minister Bill Fraser last week on the washout on Route 114.
The temporary bridge parts have arrived and they are starting to put them together but it could be mid-May before the road is open again. But safety issues have surfaced because of the 22 kilometre detour on a very bumpy road, according to the Times and Transcript.
Tracy Cooke is a mother in Hillsborough whose son was injured in a hockey game. She says it took 50 minutes to get him to hospital in Moncton along that detour. Her son is back home recovering now. She says the paramedic had to hold on to a bar with one hand while treating her son because of the rough road. She asked what happens if there’s a more serious case that requires two hands?
