A special two day conference opens tomorrow to talk about the best way to raise and spend money for charities.
The first Community Impact Summit is co-sponsored by United Way Cape Breton and C-B-R-M. It has charity groups, business and government to figure out the best ways to get the most bang out of charitable bucks.
Lynne McCarron, executive director of the United Way’s Cape Breton chapter, told the Cape Breton Post it comes down to ensuring that funds raised for charities are used in the most effective ways possible. Mayor Cecil Clarke said one of the goals is to develop an action plan to help people living in poverty, to determine what is achievable through collaboration and improved use of existing resources.
