A sentencing hearing was held yesterday for a man convicted of kidnapping a woman to prevent her from testifying against him at trial. He was charged with assaulting her and threatening her.
The Crown asked the judge to give 35 year old John Phillip “BJ” Trecartin eight years minus 21 months he has spent on remand. Trecartin’s lawyer asked for time served and probation.
Trecatin was convicted on nine counts including obstruction of justice, unlawful confinement and assault. The woman can’t be named to protect her identity. The judge will deliver his sxentence April 10th.
