A federal scientist says they still don’t know what killed all the sea life in St. Mary’s Bay.
Alain Vezina at DFO says the fish kill may have been caused by a confluence of events including fish behaviour, weather and ecological factors like predators. They call it a small localized event…and that pollution, pesticides and naturally occurring toxins have been ruled out. DFO continues to monitor the area but they believe the fish kill is mostly over now.
