Riverview Town Council has decided to increase the property tax rate for the first time since 2010. It’ll rise two cents per $100 of assessment.
It’ll mean an increase of about $30 for the average home assessed at $150,000. Council also approved an increse in water bills of $20 a year.
Mayor Ann Seamans told the Times and Transcript the 2 cent hike will generate about $300,000 more next year which will be put into a reserve fund to pay for future projects, especially with the Transaqua waste water project ahead.
