A trio of new search and rescue aircraft will soon be coming to 14 Wing Greenwood. The new Airbus C-295-W planes are part of a 2.4 -billion-dollar deal to purchase 16 new Search and Rescue planes announced by the federal government on Thursday. The first of the new planes, which will replace the current fleet of c130 Hercules and c115 Buffalo search and rescue aircraft, is expected by 2019 with all 16 planes scheduled to be delivered by 2022.
