A North Sydney man has been found not guilty on charges that date back to the late ’90s.
56 year old Russell Wayne Newman was charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a girl who was 11 or 12 at the time.
The judge noted that neither Newman nor the woman, who is now in her 30s, ever spoke about it afterwards. There were no further incidents and they maintained a friendly relationship. Justice Robin Gogan said she was left with reasonable doubt and had to find Newman not guilty.
