There was an ice rescue in Hants County Saturday…ironically while first responders were training for ice rescues nearby.
A woman went through the ice on the Meander River at Smiley’s provincial park while she was trying to rescue her dogs who went into the water. She got to shore but couldn’t walk. Shge managed to call for help before her phone went dead. Rescuers got there and took the woman to Hants Community Hospital with mild hypothermia.
Officials are warning people about the dangers of going out on the ice especially in light of the warm weather we’ve had recently.
