A concilliator has now filed a report in the contract dispute between Cape Breton University and its faculty association, triggering a countdown to possible strike action, but the association hopes it doesn’t come to that. There’s a two week cooling off period then 48 hours notice of any job action must be given.
The CBU Board of Governors rejected the tentative contract last week and fired David Wheeler as its president. In rejecting the tentative agreement, the board said the issue wasn’t the contents of the deal but the process in reaching it that was a concern.
The two sides have scheduled a meeting tomorrow to try to settle this without any walkout.
