A fun-filled day is planned in Moncton on New Year’s Eve to kick-off Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017!
The Honourable Ginette Petitpas-Taylor, MP for Moncton-Dieppe-Riverview, announced the federal government’s funding of $100,000 for Moncton’s event on December 31st. Moncton is one of 19 major Canadian cities to have been granted funding to host such a celebration to recognize Canada’s 150th anniversary.
The ‘Festival of Festivals’ will begin at noon at Riverfront Park, with special family-friendly activities organized by event partners Festival Inspire and the Mosaïq Multicultural Festival. During the afternoon, interactive stations and games will be set-up in order to celebrate local First Nations, as well as our community’s increasingly diverse population.
Then, a special concert will begin at 5pm to celebrate Canadian music. After the concert there will be a massive fireworks display to celebrate Canada’s 150th.
