Tourism is booming in the greater Moncton area, according to the Times and Transcript.
Tourim Moncton says a weak Canadian dollar has helped contribute to record visitor spending. Consultant Rod Cunningham says the low loonie has attracted Americans here as well as Canadians who are not heading south for vacations.
The report shows tourism spending hit an all-time high of almost $450 million last year more than 30% higher than in 2009. Mayor Dawn Arnold said the figures show the importance of tourism for the region’s economy.
