It’s fiddlehead season again and health officials are reminding people to properly wash and cook them.
Acting chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says fiddleheads should be washed thoroughly and either boil them for 15 minutes or steam them for 10 to 12 minutes…then throw the water out.
Eating raw or undercooked fiddleheads can lead to illness, with possible symptoms including nausea, vomiting, headaches and cramps.
