The RCMP officer who was in charge the night three Mounties were killed and two wounded testified at the RCMP’s Labour Code trial yesterday.
Corporal Peter MacLean knew his fellow Mounties were in trouble as soon as he arrived on scene and heard the rapid gunfire. He knew Justin Bourque had an automatic and that they were severely outgunned. Someone offered to bring a rifle with a scope and MacLean answered whatever you can get. He also told court under extreme circumstances Mounties can use non-issue weapons.
