Safe Harbour will reopen in the Spring thanks to a Fredericton group. The youth shelter had to close down last January because it couldn’t pay off a lien on the building.
Partners for Youth C-E-O John Sharpe told the Telegraph-Journal it will take over operation of the facility and the responsibility of raising funds for operational costs. The Anglican Diocese of Fredericton has stepped up with a donation of $643,000 to pay off the lien. Sharpe says his group is also partnering with the provincial government to reopen Safe Harbour in March…but there will be an official launch next week.
