They’re getting ready to start laying the undersea cable for the Maritime Link.
The cable-laying vessel Nexans Skagerrak has arrived in port. Emera Newfoundland and Labrador CEO Rik Janega was in Sydney to provide an update on the $1.5 billion Maritime Link. He says while construction at Muskrat Falls may be behind schedule and over budget the Maritime Link is on time and budget. Laying of the 170 kilometre continuous subsea power cable will begin soon. He pointed out it took years to manufacture it.
