Also to mark the battle, the mayor of the village where the Vimy memorial stands, Givenchy-en-Gohelle, has renamed a street in the centre of the village the Avenue de 85th Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders who played a key role in the battle.
The street is beside the village hall and a school. Mayor Pierre Senechal said that street was chosen because of the young people who walk on it every day.
